At the same time as this message appears on the printer screen, a pop-up message may appear on your screen with the following text: "support code 1688 - The following ink is finished: black PG-540 or colour CL-541. Replace the cartridge and close the paper outlet. If you are printing and/or wish to continue printing, then press the stop/repair button for at least 5 seconds while the ink cartridge is installed. Printing can continue while the ink is almost finished. The function to determine the remaining ink supply is disabled. Replace the empty ink cartridge immediately after printing. The print quality is not good enough if you continue to use the printer when the ink is almost finished. » Press and hold the stop/reset button for 5-10 seconds. The pop-up with support code 1688 and the message in screen E,1,6 are gone and can be printed. The black (B) and colour (C) indicators will remain blinking, and ink cartridges can be printed with the ink cartridges until there is a decrease in colour on the printed page to indicate that the ink cartridge is almost empty and needs to be replaced.
